BEKhealth and Western States Cancer Research Partner to Expand Availability of Clinical Trials to Over 20 Hospitals and Medical Sites

BEKhealth, a clinical research operating platform, today announced a partnership with Western States Cancer Research NCORP (WSCR-NCORP) to extend access and availability of oncology clinical trials to physicians and patients in Colorado, Washington state, and Alaska. BEKhealth’s EMR data platform, feasibility, and patient clinical trial matching platform will enable WSCR-NCORP to better understand the composition of their existing patient population and pursue industry-sponsored clinical trials for which the organization has eligible candidates.

“We are on a mission to increase equitable access to clinical research and provide a greater number of cancer patients in our network with the opportunity to participate in and benefit from clinical trials,” said Lisa A. Switzer, CEO/Executive Director, WSCR-NCORP. “BEKhealth shares this vision and has the technology solutions to enable us to deliver on this mission and ultimately have a profound impact on human health and the lives of those afflicted with cancer.”

WSCR-NCORP is a nonprofit, National Cancer Institute (NCI)-affiliated organization whose aim is to make cancer clinical trials and research studies available to physicians and patients in their own communities. Since 1983, they have led more than 900 trials involving more than 5,800 participants. With over 20 practices in the network, the organization runs approximately 90 trials a year in the oncology space, most of which are government funded.

BEKhealth will initially analyze existing EMR patient data to help WSCR-NCORP better understand their patient population to target sponsor-funded research trials for which they have a critical mass of eligible participants.

“We are excited to partner with an organization that shares our vision to extend the availability of clinical research as a care option to a more diverse population of oncology patients,” said Halley Losekamp, BEKhealth’s Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships. “We look forward to working alongside WSCR-NCORP to support their business growth ambitions and help them engage and participate in well-funded industry-led trials that will ultimately benefit a greater number of physicians and patients across their network.”
